Product code: HOCS-C3-C11

Online training

June 5, 2025 - June 5, 2025

Virtual option available

1300 -1500 hrs: Module C3 – Analysis of Consumer Data: Mapping Products and visualising relationships between many variables (PCA)

Principal components analysis for visualising product differences over many variables. Topics covered:

  • Measuring inter relationships using covariance and correlation – key differences
  • Principal component analysis – how it works a graphical explanation
  • Key outputs interpretation
  • Covariance v correlation PCA
  • Overlaying supplementary observations and variables – simple preference mapping
  • Rotating components to improve interpretability

1530 – 1730hrs: Module C11 – Analysis of Consumer Data: Comparing products using  data from more than one source

Three way mapping of Products using different Data Tables. Overview of the two main  techniques MFA, STATIS. Topics covered:

  • Multiple Factor Analysis (MFA) as a technique for mapping different data tables on the same products
  • Alternative methods – STATIS explained -advantages and disadvantages

Pre-requisite: familiarity with correlation, variance and covariance  as covered in module C2, and topics covered in statistical refresher module C01

Software used: XLSTAT (see below)
